The Financial Times and McKinsey Business Book of the Year Award Longlist
August 13, 2015
One of the few, and maybe the most coveted (there's a substantial payday that come with it) business book awards has announced its longlist.
The Financial Times and McKinsey have released the longlist for their 2015 business book award.
It is always a great list, and (as I've said in years past) quite different from our own awards as it focuses on more macroeconomic, "big picture" books whereas we focus in on the nuts and bolts of business and business management. This year is no exception. The list includes:
- Phishing for Phools: The Economics of Manipulation and Deception by George Akerlof and Robert Shiller, Princeton University Press
- Misbehaving: The Making of Behavioral Economics by Richard Thaler, W.W. Norton& Company
- Elon Musk: Tesla, SpaceX, and the Quest for a Fantastic Future by Ashlee Vance, Ecco
- Climate Shock: The Economic Consequences of a Hotter Planet by Gernot Wagner & Martin Weitzman, Princeton University Press
- How Music Got Free: The End of an Industry, The Turn of the Century, and The Patient Zero of Piracy by Stephen Witt, Viking
- Unfinished Business: Women Men Work Family by Anne-Marie Slaughter, Random House
- Restart: The Last Chance for the Indian Economy by Mihir Sharma, Vintage Books/Random House India
- Rise of the Robots: Technology and the Threat of a Jobless Future by Martin Ford, Basic Books
- Hall of Mirrors: The Great Depression, The Great Recession, and the Uses - and Misuses - of History by Barry Eichengreen, Oxford University Press
- The Powerhouse: Inside the Invention of a Battery to Save the World by Steve LeVine, Viking
- Losing the Signal: The Untold Story Behind the Extraordinary Rise and Spectacular Fall of Blackberry by Jacquie McNish and Sean Silcoff, Flatiron
- Digital Gold: Bitcoin and the Inside Story of the Misfits and Millionaires Trying to Reinvent Money by Nathaniel Popper Harper/ HarperCollins
- Superforecasting: The Art and Science of Prediction by Philip Tetlock and Dan Gardner, Crown
- Leadership BS: Fixing Workplaces and Careers One Truth at a Time by Jeffrey Pfeffer, HarperBusiness
- Black Horse Ride: The Inside Story of Lloyds and the Banking Crisis by Ivan Fallon, The Robson Press/Biteback Publishing
