Happy is a pond-dwelling creature with a scythe trailing from their wrist-everything they touch withers away. Book is a young girl with a mysterious, forgotten past. She wears a rope like a grim necklace.

It is after Book has died when she first meets Happy. The two then embark on a journey through the forest to find the Sun and on the way, discover a deep friendship, a bond that cannot be broken. They are assisted by Time, an ancient tortoise, who is seeking absolution for her past wrongs. Throughout the journey, they are pursued by the Man, a character whose dark intentions drive him in a never-ending pursuit. He lays a trail of red flowers, which lures Happy back into his grim clutches again and again. Can Happy and Book reach the Sun? Will they escape the Man?

Looking for the Sun is a gothic, fantasy novel that explores Death and all its faces. Through the friendship of Happy and Book, readers will discover that vulnerability can be a weapon in the fight to protect those they love.
