Starr was the lead singer of Merseybeat pop group the Midniters during the early '60s, before becoming famous during the early '70s following his appearances on Opportunity Knocks and the Royal Variety Performance. He starred on several TV shows in the '90s, including Freddie Starr (1993-94), The Freddie Starr Show (1996-98) and An Audience with Freddie Starr during 1996. He presented the game show Beat the Crusher in 1999, before appearing as a contestant on the TV show I'm a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here! in 2011.
