The Three Legged Wolf

Three Union cavalrymen desert from the cavalry and make their way West. On the way they experiment with Bank robbery, try their hand at bounty hunting, eventually become lawmen and finally cattlemen. All three "marry" Native American women and raise families at their small ranch, The Three Legged Wolf. They are raided by a band of marauders following up on misrepresented tale of treasure at the ranch. Years later their prodigy discover how and why they were massacred and attempt to follow their tracks through history. This is not a hard riding, shoot 'em up western, although there is gunfire and subsequent deaths. Rather it is an attempt to portray a realistic set of events in the American west after the Civil War. There are two stories that run in parallel, one tracing the story of the three Civil War deserters and their families back in Illinois, and the other being their modern day descendants discovering the exploits and adventures of their ancestors.
