We’re updating our website! 

This weekend, Porchlight Book Company is scheduled to move our eCommerce website from its current platform to a new site hosted by Shopify. The move is currently planned to happen on Friday February 28th and Saturday March 1st. During this time the website may be unavailable or behave unreliably until the migration is complete. 

We’re excited about the new platform as Shopify provides an unrivaled checkout experience for customers. Not only is the experience great for all of you but the stability and speed enabled by this system will ensure we’re able to provide the best service possible to our customers. 

CHANGES SITE VISITORS SHOULD BE AWARE OF 

Customer Accounts | Our new site will have a more modern sign-in experience that no longer requires you to have a password. When you want to access your account information or place an order, you’ll enter your email address and our website will email a one-time login code to that address. When the email arrives, you should copy the code and paste it into the login page to sign in. 

In-process orders | As the migration to the new site occurs, all unfulfilled orders placed on our current platform will continue to be processed in our backend software. Nothing is changing with those orders, and you can expect them to be completed as normal. 

Old order history | In the days and weeks after we migrate to Shopify, we will begin the process of exporting completed order history from the last 12 months. This will allow you to see orders that you have previously placed, regardless of whether those orders were placed on the web, by phone, or via email. 

IMPROVEMENTS TO THE AFTER-CHECKOUT EXPERIENCE 

The new checkout experience will now make it possible to edit your shipping address or even cancel your order without having to email or call us (although we’re happy to talk to you either way). Between 7AM and 7PM US Central Time, cancellations and shipping address modifications are allowed for up to 30 minutes after you place your order. Before 7AM, after 7PM US Central Time and on the weekend, you’ll be able to make changes until the start of the next business day.
