The Undertones are a rock group, formed in Derry, Northern Ireland during 1974, comprising Feargal Sharkey (vocals), John O'Neill (rhythm guitar, vocals), Damian O'Neill (lead guitar, vocals), Michael Bradley (bass, vocals) and Billy Doherty (drums) from 1975 to 1983. Much of the earlier Undertones material was influenced by punk rock and new wave, having also incorporated elements of rock, glam rock and post-punk into records released after 1979, with soul and Motown influencing their final L.

Much of the earlier Undertones material was influenced by punk rock and new wave, having also incorporated elements of rock, glam rock and post-punk into records released after 1979, with soul and Motown influencing their final L.P The Undertones issued 13 singles and 4 studio albums from 1978 - 1983, before Sharkey announced his intention to leave the band during May 1983, citing musical differences.
